Haveri University, Kerimattihalli, Haveri was formed by the Karnataka State Universities (Amendment) Act 2022 on 10.10.2022. It was carved out of the erstwhile Karnataka University Dharwad to cater to the higher education requirement of the youths belonging to the Haveri district. It is a state public university of the Government of Karnataka. The University officially started functioning from 21.03.2023, after the appointment of the first Vice Chancellor Prof. Suresh H. Jangamshetti Ph.D (IIT Kgp).

Haveri University is located on 42 acres of lush green land in Kerimattihalli, 7kms away from Haveri town. Administration and Academic blocks are housed in a G+1 building with 15 well-furnished classrooms, a computer center, and a Library. Basic amenities like drinking water, regulated power supply, sanitation provisions for faculty, staff & students, sports facilities, canteen, parking area, etc. are available on the campus. On-campus hostel accommodation is available for boys and girls with a mess facility.

The University has 42 affiliated degree colleges, of which 13 are Government, 8 are Govt-Aided and 21 are Self-financed (private) colleges. Undergraduate degree programs offered in these colleges are B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BCA, B.Ed, and B.P.Ed. The total number of students admitted for the academic year 2023-24 is 8800 (4600 boys & 4200 girls). Haveri University offers 10 PG programs for which 350 students (200 boys & 150 girls) took admission for the academic year 2023-24. Titles of PG programs are MCom, MSc(CS), MSW, MA in Sociology, Kannada, English, J&MC, Economics, History and M.Com (Evening).

Admission and Affiliation processes are successfully carried out using the UUCMS portal. Examination results are announced in record time to help students move to the next year without any delay. The University is in collaboration with NEFTIM Thanjavur, TN, and Reach Much Higher (RMH) Bengaluru through MoU. To promote the ‘Vocal for Local’ mission of the Government of India, the University has signed an MoU with Rotary, Rotract and Innerwheel clubs of Haveri. In the academic year 2023-24, the University organized two National seminars, 3 FDPs, 1 skilling program, and 16 local events of national and state importance. NCC, NSS, and Red Cross wings are functioning effectively to keep the students disciplined and healthy.

The University is committed to providing quality higher education to rural youth not only through industry-driven skill programs but also by their participation in academic programs. The expertise and competencies of local achievers shall be used to motivate university students to build a delighted community. Being a new university, the DPRs for a sports complex (indoor and outdoor), auditorium, Hall of Fame, and campus master plan are being prepared. A ten-year strategic plan is being prepared to make Haveri University a MODEL university.
