Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math, sanctified by the penance of Lord Shiva, is an ancient Religious Institution of India. This “Dharmapeetha” is committed for preservation and propagation of Indian Heritage through the ages. Sri Math is located in Nagamangala Taluk, Mandya District, 105 kilometers from Bangalore, to its West, on National Highway 48. The Math’s objective envisages the spreading of essence of spiritualism to establish universal brotherhood and global peace.
In the holy lineage of “Guruparampara”, His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji took charge as the 71st Spiritual Head of Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamathana Math in 1974, at the age of 30. From that day on, Sri Math began its upward journey with rapid strides.
Millions look to this ancient Monastery, for both spiritual and mundane guidance. Sri Swamiji, apart from teaching spirituality, set out to uplift the society through creating access, for the rural community, to Education and Health Care, the two most pressing needs.
His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji’s efforts have focused on the basic necessities like Anna, Akshara, and Arogya, i.e., Food, Education, and Health. As of 2007, Sri Swamiji has established more than four hundred recognized and highly regargded Educational Institutions, where in more than seventy thousand students are quenching their thirst of knowledge; a significant number are from rural areas
His holiness is involved in a number of other programmes like free feeding for more than twenty thousand people a day. It is because devotees are fed incessantly, Sri Math is also called as Annadani Math”, the five – crore plantation project, the ongoing construction of the Sri Bhyraveshwara Temple, Sanskrit Schools and Colleges, Relief Works during Natural disasters and like. His Holiness maintains his schedule continuously, circulating through more than thirty Monastic Branches of Sri Math, scattered across the country. His Holiness pervades traditional glorious Arts, Values, Culture and Timeless Spiritual message. His Holiness contributed for the progress, peace, happiness and harmony of the mankind.
His Holiness is a divine inspirer; every visitor to Sri Kshetra has sensed the Divine inspiration of Sri Swamiji and the divinity that radiates in his presence. His divine, magnetic personality, influenced hundreds to embrace Sanyasa, to tread in the path of self-realization. All these ardent Sanyasi disciples are devoted to His Holiness and got proficiency over scriptures of all the Religions.
International Foundations:
